Rainy-evening checklist before you email the accountant
A short list to run the night before handoff: filenames, open questions, and the one cover paragraph that prevents reply storms.
Handoff emails fail for ordinary reasons: missing filenames, unexplained blanks, or a cover note that says only “see attached.” Use this checklist the evening before you send.
Checklist
- Original export filenames listed in the appendix with download dates
- Transfer tags reviewed once more for self-custody moves
- Every blank acquisition value appears on the open-question list
- Cover note states year, exchanges, wallets, and lot method used
- Organizer file and PDF packet share the same version date in the footer
Cover paragraph template
“Attached is the 2024 lot register for [exchanges], classified by specific identification where notes exist, otherwise FIFO. Transfers between my wallets are tagged and excluded from disposals. Open questions are on page three.”
That single paragraph answers half of the first reply.
If anything is unfinished
Do not silence the gaps. Send the packet with gaps labeled, or book packet assembly so the cover note stays accurate. Silence is what creates reconstructed spreadsheets.
